The Laurel Mall is located in Laurel, Maryland, just off I-95, between Baltimore and Washington. The mall is owned by General Growth Properties, and was opened in 1979. After three renovations, the mall now covers 660,000 square feet of retail space divided into 2 levels in a fully-enclosed structure. As of 2007 the mall will begin a massive renovation, which will bring new flooring, lighting and a children's play area.
There are over 100 shops and services in this mall, as well as 9 restaurants, all located in the food court. Anchor tenants are Macy's, Burlington Coat Factory, and International Furniture. Eateries include Sbarro, Auntie Annie's, Taco Bell, and Subway. During weekdays and on Saturday, the mall is open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. On Sunday the mall is open from 11:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Families are welcomed here with family restroom and stroller rental. Parking is free but there are no valet parking services available. The mall is considered to be a middle-class one, with prices that make it affordable for people with lower incomes, too. It currently undergoes some popularity and tenant occupancy problems, but these are expected to end with the new renovation. There is no cinema at this mall, but those who want to take a break from shopping can visit the surrounding area. Laurel Lake, Granville Guide Park, Patuxent Greens Country Club, Alice McCollough Recreation Center and Snow Hill Manor Park are all in the proximity of this mall.
